The Army and Navy Academy (ANA) is a private, non-denominational, college-preparatory military school located in 2605 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad, California, United States. The academy was originally founded in Pacific Beach, San Diego, California by Colonel Thomas Alderson Davis on November 23, 1910. In 1936, the school became part of John Brown University and subsequently was named Brown Military Academy. At the time, it was the largest military academy on the West Coast and was the fifth largest high school in the United States.

Following the death of John Brown, the academy was sold to various developers who then moved the school to Glendora, California, then to Solana Beach, California then finally to its present location in Carlsbad, California.

As a university-preparatory military school, the Army and Navy Academy enjoys the distinction as a school that prepares students physically, emotionally and intellectually for college. Its rigorous core curriculum is based on the University of California's entrance requirements and is taught using a carefully developed learning system.

The academy boasts of its mentoring approach and personalized instruction. Since each student learns differently, a teacher to student ratio of 1:10 will allow teachers to utilize appropriate strategies for each student and help ensure every student’s success.

Finally, the Academy’s unique learning approach is based on Leadership and Character Development and includes programs such as the Leadership Education Training (LET) that instills discipline and structure while at the same time emphasizes leadership through citizenship.

Army and Navy Academy’s JROTC program is integrated into the LET and is comprised of four levels, with each level equivalent to 180 academic hours. The curriculum is linked to the McREL (instructional leadership resource) national standards. Every lesson and assessment actively engages students in higher-order thinking, along with skill performance.
