Florida Air Academy (FAA) is a private, non-denominational, coeducational college-preparatory military school located in 1950 South Academy Drive, Melbourne, Florida, United States. It was established in 1961, after Jonathan Dwight bought The Belcelona Hotel and converted it into a college-preparatory military school for young men.
As a college-preparatory military school, Florida Air features a structured and highly-disciplined environment that can instill high-quality learning and training unrivaled by most schools. The academy offers a fully accredited curriculum matched with carefully developed structure: mandatory evening study halls, free before-school teacher help sessions, activity periods, etc.
Florida Air Academy is also a flight training school and offers programs that teach the basics of aviation, and responsibility and decision-making skills. Flight instructors from The Florida Institute of Technology are employed by the Academy to monitor each student's progress. Training aircraft located at Melbourne International Airport. Over 30 single and twin engine aircraft are available for training, including Piper Warriors, the complex retractable-gear Arrow, and the multi-engine Seminole.
Florida Air Academy boasts of its personalized teaching methods. With a student-teacher ratio of 10:1, teachers can utilize the best strategies for each student and help ensure every student’s success.
