Benedictine Military School (BC), also referred to as Benedictine, is an all-male college preparatory military high school located in 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah, Georgia, United States. It was established in 1902 as Benedictine College at 31st and Habersham Streets by Benedictine monks doing missionary work in the area since 1874. In 1963, the school moved to its current campus located on Seawright Drive on the southside of Savannah.
As a college preparatory school, Benedictine Military School offers a traditional, values-centered Christian education that is attuned to the needs of every student. Christian way of life is observed: daily prayers in the morning, at lunch and in the afternoon, celebration of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist once a month for the entire school community and penance services held during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
As primarily a military school, freshmen and sophomores are required to enroll into the Army JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps). For juniors and seniors, enrollment is already optional, although normally around 80-85% of the upper classmen elect to remain in the JROTC Program. Benedictine Military School’s JROTC program is one of the largest in the Sixth ROTC Brigade, with over three hundred fifty Cadets annually.
