Vermont Military Schools: Education With Minimal Confrontation

Military schools are famed for their confrontational style, which is why they earned the reputation of schools for the troubled teen some time ago. They would be the last stop before juvenile correctional facilities and this, along with complaints about their practice, seriously degraded the reputation of military high schools. However, that is not the case today. Instead, Vermont military schools are excellent educational facilities that do not accept troubled teens that will not conform to their rules and practices and so can really focus on teaching the next generation.

Believe it or not, Vermont military schools rarely have to be confrontational in their teaching styles. This is often expected of military schools in Vermont but is not often forthcoming because it does not have to be. Their selection policies are amongst the most stringent in the country and so often reject students that may otherwise be able to get in any given educational institution. This is not a bad thing because it means that your teen, if accepted, will be in the right place to learn. With discipline, respect and a willingness to learn, your teen can really enjoy his or her first class education.

All of the above information may make Vermont military schools sound elitist. They are by no means elitist in any way. They simply select those teens that they believe are most suited to their military high schools. If the attitude is wrong then it will not matter what the grades are like. This is why it is necessary to discuss the option with your teen first. Confrontational education is a myth but giving your teen a choice in the matter should be a reality to ensure that he or she can make the most out of the phenomenal opportunity available. After all, you only get one shot at high school and if Vermont military schools are the best then ask your teen if he or she wants to settle for anything else!
