Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) is a private, Christian, college-preparatory school located in 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1959, the school focuses on Christian teaching and is run by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Roman Catholic religious teaching congregation founded in France by Saint Jean-Baptiste de la Salle.
Christian Brothers Academy is widely renowned for being one of the best and most academically-challenging college-preparatory schools in the United States. In 1983, it was a recipient of the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, the highest award an American school can receive. The academy focuses on mentoring approach on its teaching methods. With a student to teacher ratio of 1:12, classes are highly personalized and guarantee each student’s success. The faculty comprises of De La Salle Brothers and 70 men and women, most of whom hold advanced degrees. Its brothers use the post-nominal abbreviation FSC.
Christian Brothers Academy consistently sees a large percentage of its graduates continue their schooling on reputable colleges and universities. As comparison: in 2010, 229 seniors graduated, and 97% of the graduates enrolled in a 4-year college curriculum in various states. The mean critical reading SAT score for the class was 587 (national median was 501), the Math score was 614 (national median was 516), and the Writing score was 586 (national median was 492). There were 2 National Merit Finalists and 7 National Merit Commended Students. All of which are above the United States average.
