Carson Long Military Institute is a private, non-denominational, college-preparatory military school located in 200 North Carlisle Street, New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, United States. It is the oldest boarding school that offers military training in the United States, with roots dating back in 1836 when Robert Finley founded Bloomfield Academy.

The school is a not-for-profit institution since 1920 and is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees. Since 1929, the school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States, the National Association of Independent Schools, and the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools.

As a university-preparatory military school, Carson Long Military Institute offers a structured learning environment that instills self-discipline, concentration on the task at hand and time management. With a student to teacher ratio of 1:9, teaching is personalized, with a mentoring approach that allows utilization of appropriate strategies for each student and helps ensure every student’s success. Consequently, Carson Long Military Institute enjoys a rich tradition of cadets that have already enjoyed and are enjoying successful lives.

JROTC is an integral part of the education at Carson Long Military Institute. Through military training and exercise, important life skills are learned, such as personal fitness, determination, leadership, team work, self-discipline and management skills which will serve well upon graduation.

Carson Long Military Institute’s JROTC also provides cadets the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive activities, such as Drill Teams and Adventure Training.
