The Duke of York’s Royal Military School, also referred to as the Duke of York’s, is a public, coeducational, non-denominational school located in Dover, Kent, England. Following the 1801 Act of Royal Warrant, the school was established in 1803 as the Royal Military Asylum, a school for the orphans of British servicemen that died in the Napoleonic Wars of 1793. Originally located in Chelsea, the school was evacuated to Hutton, near Brentwood, Essex during World War I, and in 1909 relocated to its present location on the cliffs above Dover in Kent.
As a military school for students ages 11 to 18, Duke of York’s prided itself as one of the nation’s top leader development institutions with very high academic standards.
